TCF National Bank
Lakewood, CO
4,700 SF
Completed December 2005

This specific TCF Bank was required by the City of Lakewood to be a substantial departure from the typical TCF prototype. The Bank site is located on Colfax Avenue, the longest commercial strip in the United States. Many of the buildings along this stretch of Colfax are testaments to mid-20th Century roadside strip architecture. It was a design requirement that the project blend with the existing structures along Colfax, while taking cues from a new Wal-Mart store that is located in the same development. The Wal-Mart was designed with a retro style, with highly emphasized dynamic angled forms, industrial, and a design concept of a composition of music.

This TCF Bank design has taken into account these above concepts, while effectively creating an abstract futuristic version of TCF’s signature prototype design. The design retains many of the stock parts and pieces - while morphing them into an altogether unique expression to meet the various design concepts and interests involved in this particular project.
