The project was created for an international firm which was in a growth phase. It consisted of 40,000 s.f. of office space, a 6,000 s.f. data center, video conference rooms and a large community room. The floor plate was 40,000. s.f. of space which was designed as two separate buildings and linked by only the reception area. The challenge was we needed to create a stronger connection between the two halves so it still felt like one company. Hundreds of highly intelligent software engineers, primarily males, which were assembled from all over the world were hired to work in this new environment. The client also wanted to recruit the best and the brightest of talent therefore they wanted an environment which was fresh, young, bright, energetic, professional and comfortable. The 6,000 sf Data Center was designed to 150 watts per square foot. An exterior equipment yard for 3 chillers, generatiors and transformers were also a part of our scope. The majority of the brightness and freshness was achieved by the use of accent paint colors of tangerine, bright white, olive and mint green which had little cost impact. A light cream limestone colored matte finished ceramic tile in large 24”x24” sizes was used in the common areas for its lack of acoustical absorption, it ‘s low maintenance quality and cost. We wanted to use actual limestone but couldn’t afford the cost or maintenance issues. Due to these selections the reception is continually fresh looking and lively. |
